Based right here in Penzance, Steve has spent over 10 years working on Cornish roofs of every kind, from the traditional slate and scantle of granite cottages and listed buildings to modern homes on exposed coastal plots. He knows the streets, the weather and the buildings, because they’re the same ones he works among every week, from Newlyn and Mousehole to St Ives and right across West Cornwall.

How much does a new roof cost in Cornwall?+
Every roof is different. The size and pitch, the material (slate, tile or flat), scaffolding and access, and any leadwork all affect the price. That’s why Steve inspects the roof properly first, then gives you a clear written quote, free and with no obligation, so you know the exact cost before any work starts.
How long does a slate or tile roof last?+
Fitted correctly, a natural slate roof can last 80–100+ years, and concrete or clay tiles typically 40–60. Modern GRP fibreglass and EPDM flat roofs are good for 20–30+. The key is expert fitting to British Standards with properly detailed leadwork, that’s what lets a roof in Cornwall’s coastal weather reach its full lifespan.
Can my roof be repaired, or does it need replacing?+
Often a well-done repair is all that’s needed, and where that’s the case, that’s exactly what Steve will recommend. Where a roof is genuinely at the end of its life, he’ll show you why and quote a full re-roof properly. Either way, you get an expert assessment and an honest recommendation, in writing.
